International Jazz Day, 30. april 2018.
Pula, Croatia, 2018.
In the long run (after 2020), Pula could become a candidate city for the celebration of the International Jazz Day.
A glorious and accurate definition of the consequences of marking the International Day of Jazz is brought by Ambassador of the Goodwill of UNESCO, musician and composer Herbie Hancock:
"People all over the world have long ago declared the fundamental right to freedom through music. The basic idea of the International Day of Jazz is to educate, raise and discover and nurture the creative potential of young people in small villages as well as in the big cities. Our effort will contribute to the preservation of jazz expression and serve as a guarantee that this rich cultural heritage is a starting point for new generations. "
Entering the World Jazz Movement as part of the celebration of the International Jazz Day, on April 30, 2018, the Association Cultural Initiative will provide a significant cultural music event in Pula with the support of national and international media.
A great jazz concert will be held on April 30th in the grand hall of the Croatian War Veterans' House. The festival will include students of the music school and students of the Music Academy in Pula.
The event will begin with a lecture on jazz improvisation, while a jazz photo exhibition will be held in the lobby of DHB. In the evening, a large concert and jam session will be held, featuring Croatian and internationally acclaimed jazz musicians.
The Homage to Jazz at the Celebration on April 30th will be featured by the star of Chicago - Denise Thimes, one of the most admired and popular singers of contemporary jazz scenes that delightens the audience with her talent for 30 years. Her loyal fans are also the people at the helm of world powers - 43rd President George Bush and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The musician will perform at the celebration with the accompaniment of the best Croatian jazz performers led by Branko Sterpin, HRT soloist jazz band. The Russian saxophonist Oleg Kireyev, the thombonist Miron Hauser, the guitarist Joe Pandur and many others will perform as guests.
